Eat These 2 Bad Foods to Lose 14 Pounds in a Month

While most nutritionists agree that getting your fill of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains is the best way to a slimmer bod, an Arizona man is losing weight doing the unthinkable: Eating sausages and drinking up to 6 beers a day.

Consuming an average of 2,100 calories per day, Evo Terro, who has embarked on this monthly diet during Oktoberfest every year for the past 3 years, says this diet could help you lose up to 14 pounds in a month.

And believe it or not, it’s healthy too–at least that’s according to his friend, Dr. Terry Simpson, a doctor and weight loss specialist.

“We blew everything out of the water,” says Simpson. “The first year, lost 14 pounds, most of it body fat. His cholesterol went down by a third.”

How Terro Diets

Reportedly a big fan of Oktoberfest, Terro maintains his beer-and-sausage diet by eating a variety of sausages every day for a bit of variety. “The sausage comes in many shapes and forms. I’m using today, beef sticks,” says Terro.

Admittedly, his diet is an unusual one–high in saturated fat, it greatly exceeds the USDA’s fat and cholesterol recommendations, though Terro’s doctors says it’s improving his cholesterol readings. Here’s what Terro eats every day:

  • Breakfast: To start off his day on a high note, Terro usually sticks with breakfast sausage paired with a light, fruity beer. Sometimes he switches it up with beef sticks or hot dogs, depending on his preferences.
  • Lunch: As usual, Terro reaches for even more sausage–this time, it’s a toss-up between Kielbases, Italian sausage, or hot dogs–followed by a regular beer or two. Because beer impairs his judgment, Terro usually has to ask his son to drive him around town.
  • Dinner: To finish off his day, Terro chooses any sausage of his liking followed by a stronger beverage, such as an ale or stout. By the end of each day, he usually drinks an average of six beers (he doesn’t keep count on his sausage intake).

Should You Try This Diet?

As crazy as it sounds–and admittedly, most nutritionists aren’t behind this plan–Terro swears this diet does work, despite being too inebriated to drive. But not everyone says drinking beer on a diet is a bad thing.

“Moderate beer consumption is actually healthy, so I set out to define “moderate” as well as educate on the basics of caloric intake and caloric expenditure,” says Stew Smith, a military fitness trainer and contributor to Military.com. ” In fact, moderate consumption of alcohol, including beer, has been proven to reduce the effects of high cholesterol, heart disease, some forms of cancer and even impotence.”

However, Smith notes that moderation ends at 2 beers a day–and drinking any beer to excess will probably lead to a beer gut, not abs. But the evidence remains: Terro loses weight on this plan with no health consequences, and maybe you too could learn a lesson from his diet plan.
